Form 13 of 14

Sip Soo is named for ten hands. In practice it is a shorter, heavier form than the Pyung Ahn set, full of covers, pulls, and strikes at arm’s length. Interpretations of the “hands” differ — some count gripping actions, some count techniques. Learn the sequence your instructor shows, then ask what each hand is holding.

Steps

One common Moo Duk Kwan reading, counted from the first technique. Ready stance comes before step 1. If your instructor splits or joins a count, use theirs. One association's count. The grip-and-strike idea is stable. The exact palm and the jump are not.

  1. 1Slide the left foot to the right. Arms out by the hips, then stack the hands and lift them toward the mouth.
  2. 2Open the left hand. Step back into a right-leg-forward front stance. Right hand rises by the eyes, left hand chambers. Slow breath.
  3. 3Step the left foot forward. Palm turns down, then the hands switch: left hand by the eyes, right hand by the belt, in a left front stance.
  4. 4Look right. Snap into a right back stance, right knife-hand block, left hand chambered.
  5. 5Look left. Right side stance, right palm block.
  6. 6Left side stance, left palm block. Eyes stay forward.
  7. 7Right side stance, right palm block. Eyes stay forward.
  8. 8Look left 90°. Cross the right foot in front. Cross stance, high X block.
  9. 9Step the left foot out to horse stance. Both hands travel down into a double low block.
  10. 10Jump, tuck, and land in horse stance with a double inside-outside block. Kihap. If your school does not jump, step.
  11. 11Look right. Left outside-inside crescent kick, touch the ear, stomp into horse stance, double inside-outside block.
  12. 12Look left. Right outside-inside crescent kick, then the same double block.
  13. 13The crescent and double block once more, on the first side.
  14. 14Double middle block.
  15. 15Step in to ready, then face 90° right into a back stance and knife-hand block to close the corners your school still has left.
  16. 16Return to ready.
